Great tips to organizing your living room. Ways to create a comfortable and useable room for hte entire family.
The living room seems to be the first and last room everyone sees when visiting your home. It is the central gathering place for many occassions. Here are a few tips to make your living room more functional and liveable:

*Use lightweight stackable tables near the seating. These tables are great places to park books, cups and can be moved around for a more useful purpose.

*Arrange your room the way you want to use it daily. Don't arrange it for how you want it to look for company. Chances are you will spend 95% of your time in this room without company.

*Have a variety of lighting in the room. Use bright lights for reading and writing and softer lights for conversation and relaxing. Put dimmers on your lights to control the mood. Dim lights will also hide the dust!

*Provide a nice area for reading with good lighting.

*Buy a coffee table with storage. You can store board games, remotes, blankets and books in the storage compartment. To save a little money, you can use chests, old toy boxes or even a decorative crate with a glass top. Be creative.

*Provide plenty of floor pillows to keep kids from jumping around on furniture. Make or buy zippered pillow covers for easy clean ups.

*Place a short and easy to reach book shelf behind the sofa instead of a sofa table. You can only sit a few items on a table, but dozens on a bookshelf.

*And most importantly, teach everyone to clean up and take their own items when they leave the room.
